“My ideas don’t get listened to, much…”
I hear this comment often, in many contexts, and I think, ‘If you are an employee you have a personal responsibility to make sure that you are ‘listened to’. But what if you are a person with a disability, a family member or a carer and you have ideas or a list of ‘things’ that are just not right, or a dream that no-one takes seriously? What if you live your whole life dependent on someone in an organisation deciding how you grow, what you need, what you can have and what your future looks like?
Then I worried. What if we at FSG believe that we truly listen, respond and solution, but in fact, we don’t? What if we talk about growth and people moving forward but we don’t look for opportunities at every turn to make this happen? What if we have people at FSG who really don’t take the time to make dreams a reality? And if these ‘what if’s’ are happening, how do we know?
Then I explored some answers to these questions… I found so many examples of amazing growth of FSG clients that I stopped listing the what if’s.
I see people who came to FSG with large packages who don’t need funding now; I see people who thought they would live at home forever, now living independent lives; I see people who have had to live where they were told with people they didn’t even like, now living in their own wonderful homes; I see people getting qualifications who were considered unable to learn; I see people being social justice warriors who once were in need of social justice themselves; I see people who are working who thought they would be forever dependent on welfare;
I see people living their dreams!
So, it is clear to me that we have some very effective, highly committed, passionate Dreamweavers at FSG. Everyone at FSG is charged with the responsibility of being a dreamweaver. However, there will be those who access our service who don’t move forward in their lives and it is to you/them that I direct my heartfelt encouragement. Find the right person at FSG to talk to, don’t limit your future because someone is not listening. MAKE US LISTEN! We have a strong history of ‘making things happen’ and we CAN make things happen for you.
