Thomas Leonard has been named an Honourary FSG Australia Ambassador and only the fourth in FSG’s history. Thomas is also a great example of how FSG walks alongside people to assist them achieve their dreams of independence and employment, having stepped through FSG’s doors in 2012 looking for change in his life.
On Wednesday 6 September, surrounded by work colleagues and friends, Thomas was presented with a Certificate IV in Small Business Management. But the biggest surprise was being made an Honourary FSG Ambassador, presented by FSG Australia Chair, Lady Barbara Hickey.
“At first, I was shocked in a good way to be announced as an FSG Ambassador,” Thomas said. “I thought I would receive my Certificate IV, but being made an FSG Ambassador was an honour.”
Thomas said five years ago he was at home, watching TV, was shy and doing nothing with his life.
“Now, I’m working at FSG Australia, I’ve completed a Certificate IV and looking at further study in either finance or business,” Thomas said.
Thomas is no longer that shy person who walked through FSG’s doors five years ago.
“During my course, I had to make appointments to speak to people at FSG about what they do, including Vicki, our CEO,” Thomas said. “Being at FSG has given me enough confidence to one day set up my own business. Something I wouldn’t have dreamed of before coming to FSG.
