FSG Australia (FSG) matches children and young people who have experienced complex trauma, medical needs, and/or living with disability, from 0-18 years of age with an FSG approved foster carer. As an FSG foster carer you receive ongoing training, mentoring and financial reimbursement from the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services directly related to the child/young person’s care needs.
Who can become a Foster Carer?
If you are a caring person, committed to enriching a child or young person’s life then you are a good candidate to become a foster carer.
FSG is seeking people in South East Queensland from diverse backgrounds including individuals, couples and families with some experience looking after children with a disability or complex needs, to provide a nurturing, safe and stable home. Individuals who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people under the care of the Child Safety Services should apply.
Becoming an approved foster carer can take 6-12 months to complete and includes:
- health and child protection screening,
- traffic offence, criminal history, and personal referee checks,
- Approximately 10 hours of intensive interviews and meetings,

FSG will assist you through the process of becoming an approved carer from application to training to caring and into the future.
Once you are an approved foster carer, FSG will connect you with a Coordinator, who will be your point of contact to assist you, when needed. In addition, you will have the opportunity to increase your skills and knowledge with ongoing training and FSG provide an on call service 24/7.
