FSG Australia (FSGA) matches children and young people who have experienced complex trauma and/or living with disability, from 0-18 years of age with a FSGA approved Foster Carer. As a FSGA Foster Carer you receive ongoing training, mentoring and financial reimbursement provided from the Department of Communities, Child Safety, and Disability Services directly related to the child/young person’s care needs.
Who can become a Foster Carer?
We are looking for caring and committed people from diverse backgrounds including individuals, couples, and families with some experience looking after children with a disability or complex needs, to provide a nurturing, safe and stable home in locations throughout SE Queensland.
Individuals who are committed and dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people under the care of the Child Safety Services should apply.
Becoming an Approved Foster Carer can take on average 6-12 months to complete and includes:
- health and child protection screening,
- traffic offence, criminal history, and personal referee checks,
- Approximately 10 hours of intensive interviews and meetings,
- 5 training modules to complete.
Once you are an approved Foster Carer, FSGA will appoint a co-ordinator who will be your support person and point of contact. In addition, you will be provided with the opportunity to increase your skills and knowledge with ongoing training and FSGA staff members are on call 24/7.
