Interchange advocates for and promotes disability awareness in local communities. The Great Australian Sunny Sizzle, is held around Australia every year in March to celebrate difference and attract volunteers into the disability sector. There are two unique Interchange Queensland programs that offer volunteering opportunities in your local community:
Community Connectors Program
Our Connectors are people from every walk of life who volunteer their time to make a positive difference in the lives of people with a range of needs e.g. people (adults and children) will a disability and their families, older people, people living with a serious illness, people who are isolated and new to the area. Connectors offer a small amount of time (usually a minimum of 3 hours per month) on a regular basis; and the role is as varied as the people we assist!
Community Connectors don't need formal qualifications, just a passionate interest in people and determination to make our local communities and neighbourhoods welcome places for all. Community connecting is a quite, progressive human revolution!
Host Family Program
